How I fell in love with a beauty sample

Love affairs rarely start from a goodie bag of beauty samples. But mine did and now I’m fully committed.

High-end beauty brand Oskia donated samples to an event I attended, but whilst most end up gathering dust, these were put to good use and, quite simply, I fell in love.

They’re by no means cheap, the Super 16 Serum retails at £90 for 30ml, but it’s an investment buy which delivers what it promises.

Oskia is a British brand started by Georgie Cleeve (pictured below) in 2009 after noticing the amazing benefits ‘beauty mineral’ MSM had on her eczema and acne-prone skin.

MSM is an organic form of Sulphur which helps boost collagen production and decreases inflammation, which is the key to youthful, bright skin.

Georgie, a food journalist before she started her venture into skincare, was already clued up on food, nutrition and the benefits to skin of a good diet. So starting a brand based on nutritional skincare seemed like second nature.

The Perfect Cleanser is a star product for me. The smell, the texture, the ingredients, the way my skin feels after – it’s like a dream concoction for happy and healthy skin. I am definitely a double cleanse girl and because of my skin type (I suffer with hormonal acne), I do use another cleanser after this one, just to make sure any excess dirt and sebum is removed.

The Perfect Cleanser, £35

This really is the perfect cleanser for taking off eye make-up. It literally melts it without any hard scrubbing at the delicate eye area. I also use it when my skin is feeling a bit dry and needs some comfort.

The Super 16 Serum is a lightweight, easily-absorbed serum containing the key active ingredients, Bakuchiol, a potent antioxidant that helps reduce the signs of fine-lines and helps calm the skin; Hyaluronic Acid which has been such a popular ingredient in the skincare world for its ability to retain moisture and Vitamins A, C and E, all antioxidants that help firm the skin.

This product is quite watery so doesn’t feel like you are putting too many layers onto your skin. It should be applied after cleansing and before other serums or moisturiser.

Serums are one of the most important products in your skincare routine as they are such an easy way to get those effective ingredients into your skin.

The Renaissance Mask is a jelly-like mask which brightens and resurfaces the skin through the use of Natural Fruit Acids (AHAs) which include passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple. These super ingredients gently exfoliate the top layer of the skin and star ingredient MSM helps leave the skin feeling smoother and looking brighter.

Renaissance Mask, £60

The mask is light pink in colour but once worked into the skin, it turns white which lets you know the mask is activated. This mask is left on the skin for 10 minutes. You feel a warm sensation as soon as the mask has turned white and the skin feels renewed after use. This is a mask that can be used 1-2 times a week. I would say no more as you don’t want to strip your skin and reverse the anti-aging effects the mask provides.

RRP £60 50ml
