Missing loved ones this lockdown? Spanish wine brand Campo Viejo has the answer this Christmas as it’s offering wine lovers a life-sized pop up of their friends or family with every wine order from December 1.

Because sharing (a bottle of wine) is caring, the initiative was launched after a Campo Viejo survey of 2,000 Brits showed that the nation has confided in people during lockdown with 26% admitting that they’ve leant on friends, family and neighbours more this year than before. The survey also showed that even though we’ve been apart, over a quarter (27%) have spent more time with friends this year than in 2019 thanks to bubbles and Zooms.

Available nationwide, with every purchase of Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo or Campo Viejo Viura-Tempranillo Blanco from, wine fans will receive a complimentary pop up delivered with their favourite bottle of wine. All they have to do is visit the online store upload a picture and within 48 hours they can be sharing a glass of wine with their bestie. Cheers to that!

It doesn’t just have to be their best friends. The study also highlighted that lockdown has caused 32% of Brits to reconnect with old friends from their past or even make new friends (67%), including with their neighbours (25%) and work colleagues (23%). In fact, 2020 has made us so virtual that 19% of people have made new friends online. So, there’s nothing stopping them bringing new or old friends into their life (lounge?) to share a glass of wine with.

Lucy Bearman, Brand Director from Campo Viejo said: “For almost a year we’ve all been stuck at home missing our friends and family and whilst we’re glad everyone has been abiding by the rules, it hasn’t been fun. We want to bring a little bit of joy to people as Christmas gets closer. Having your best friend round for a glass of Campo Viejo wine is the perfect antidote to a glum weekend stuck at home!”

Whilst the pop up friends won’t be the best at holding a conversation, they will bring humour to those Friday night Zoom calls with friends across the ether. The best bit? There’s no need to social distance with cardboard.

The complimentary pop up cut-outs are included with any order of Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo and Campo Viejo Viura-Tempranillo Blanco from (£15 including delivery, nationwide). Hurry up and salud!
