British Builder and his wife give away Spanish villa in aid of The Big Issue Foundation

Stephen and Debra Else are giving away their Spanish Villa located in sunny, southern Costa Blanca to raise funds for the homeless.

Having raised their own family in the villa over the last 20 years and with retirement soon approaching Stephen and Debra, both from Nottingham and Derbyshire, have decided to offer the villa in a prize draw to one lucky winner.

Construction of the villa started in 1999 and was primarily undertaken by Stephen who is a qualified builder and his son Martin.

Both father, son and the entire family now reside on the island of Malta where they represent one of the world’s largest beverage brands from Spain on the island.

Stephen and Debra are, however, on the brink of retirement. Debra has recently just retired from her work in the local care home caring for the elderly. So this seems to be the perfect time to let go of their family home in Spain to help Martin with the business.

The four-bedroom property is approximately 300 square metres in size and includes a one car garage, outdoor built BBQ, facility, large summer and winter built in sun terrace, a 10 x 5 metre mosaic tiled pool that is surrounded by a vast balustrade terraced space. The upstairs can be used as either an office, bedroom or rented out as a self-contained apartment.

The property also has 10,000 m2 (approx. 2.5 acres) of land. The top area surrounding the house is a garden area, the rest of the space was used for growing crops, fruit trees, irrigated strawberries and more.

The villa has some of the most scenic sea and village views available.

The villa is situated in Alicante Province in a village called Aguas de Busot which literally translates to Waters of Busot. The quaint Spanish Village is renowned for its healing thermal spring waters. In times gone by the Baños de Busot hotel was used by various royalty including Queen Elizabeth and today the village is known as the ‘lungs of Alicante’ due to its pure mountainous air.

The village comprises of a school, a bank, pharmacy, doctor’s surgery, grocery and bakery shops, butchers, bars, restaurants, library, sports facilities, a church, town hall and much more. In late August and early September, the village has its local fiesta and every first Sunday of each month there is a popular flea market.

The villa is nicely located half way between Alicante City and Benidorm. It’s approximately a 30 minute drive away from the main Alicante Airport.

The property has a large plot of land. During normal times, a lot of cyclists, tourists visit the area. The land could be perhaps maintained as a garden or used as a caravan park or similar.

The property was independently valued at £795,000 (approx’ €880,000) and is being ‘raffled’ away at just £5 a ticket.

The winner will receive the property completely free of any taxes, transfer fees and similar.

The owners Stephen and Debra feel that this is the perfect opportunity to help someone acquire a luxurious property and maybe even help a first time buyer get onto the property ladder.
