1. What has been your Best Life Project to date?
In my 3rd year of uni, with three friends, we organised a sell-out charity event at the Royal Albert Hall, raising over £10,000. The event was a variety show of singing, dancing, and catwalks, also celebrating Diwali. To be on stage at the Royal Albert Hall and to have been the backbone of the event was just incredible.
2. The unknown … what challenges did you have to overcome?
In my work as a facial aesthetics artist, there were numerous challenges when I first began. Coming into the industry with a pharmaceutical background when I did, was relatively new and pioneering. There weren’t many others. Even the simplest of tasks, such as opening an account with a wholesaler, was a challenge. There was also a lot of competition from those already working locally. In addition, soon after setting up my business, I was required to have numerous shoulder surgeries. This was a huge worry. However, in less than a year, I was crowned ‘Aesthetic Practitioner of the Year’, and now our clinic welcomes clients from across the UK and Internationally.
3. In hindsight…..what would you do differently?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I don’t believe in living with regrets or looking back. Learn from the past and make the best possible future. I believe that everything of our past, good or bad, is what makes us who we are today.
4. Next steps?
I thoroughly enjoy my work as an award-winning aesthetics artist. I have also always been one to help others in my industry and share my knowledge. I’m really looking forward to starting a new role outside of the clinic as a facial aesthetics trainer with a well-established academy.
5. What lifestyle changes has lockdown made you consider?
To find a better health and fitness routine. However, I am still at the consideration phase and struggle to move to the ‘doing’ phase! I keep telling myself I’ll start tomorrow on this one.
6. Kissing frogs …. is there an unexpected person who has helped you and, if so, how did they do it?
My son. He is only one-year-old, and he will never truly know how much he has helped me already. The pandemic has been so difficult for all of us and particularly difficult for our clinic, having had to close our doors during the lockdown. However, when I think of my son and coming home to his smile, his pure innocence and unconditional love, words can not describe how it has managed to keep me going and kept me smiling.
7. My Inspiration ….who, or what inspires you?
I find inspiration from all around and strive to become a better person. My inspiration might be an athlete that shows how through determination and will power that we can physically push our bodies far beyond what we may think we can, through to American internet entrepreneur Jeff Bezos, who embodies the ethos that it is never too late to start a dream with very little and become arguably the most successful business person of all time. Those who may not be financially well off, but keep smiling and teach us to appreciate absolutely everything we have in life, also inspire me.
8. How do you relax, or do you struggle to relax?
I go home! I love my work, but as soon as I walk through my front door and see my family, I switch off, as everything I need and most value in life is right there.
9. Guilty secret pleasure?
It depends on the season: A hot chocolate with Baileys on a cold winter night. A mojito or two during the summer.
10. Words of wisdom
Just relax and go for it. It’s simple, but anyone who knows me knows I live my day by this phrase. No matter what the day throws at you, there is always a solution and a way to get it done. You just got to take a breath, relax and get on and do it.
